Now it is no longer just cross-country skiers who get the chance to push their limits over a total distance of 90 kilometres. On Thursday evening, skiers and snowboarders will be challenged over the same distance but with a downhill section all the way. In the gondola ride up, expectant participants can take the opportunity to rest their legs.
Vasaloppet is a proud sponsor of the event and will offer the classic wheat buns and blueberry soup to the participants. After the finish, a well-deserved medal awaits each participant.
The race takes place in the evening after the slopes have closed for the day The course is via the three kilometre long Lämmeltåget descent. To reach a total of 90 kilometres, each participant will ski from the top to the bottom of the green illuminated piste 32 times.
Before the start, the participants will be divided into different starting groups, with the first group setting off at 19.00 on the Gondola Sälen up to the top. Each competitor will receive an individual chip that records the time and number of rides in the gondola, and the finish area will be at the gondola's valley station.
Preliminary schedule:
- 18.30 Riders' meeting at the gondola valley station.
- 19.00 First starting group begins the race.
- 02.00 The rope is pulled.
- Time for prize-giving ceremony announced on site
